About the role:

 

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced safety focussed professional to join our HSE Operations Team as a Senior HSE Advisor in a full-time and permanent capacity.

 

The responsibilities of the role are to ultimately lead Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) performance activities for their work group area.

 

The role sets and delivers on the safety strategy and drives the HSE management system along with coaching, enabling and assisting leaders to champion health and safety. The role also facilitates the wider HSE team’s support within their work group to maintain a healthy and safe work environment in accordance with good industry practices, and ensure compliance with legislative requirements via the development, deployment and continuous improvement of the HSE management system and strategic improvement plan.

 

This role covers the Richmond, Brooklyn and Geelong regions and regular travel across these locations is required. A vehicle package is included.

 

What you’ll deliver:

 

  • Lead, coach, and develop the HSE Advisor to build capability and performance.
  • Lead the design, delivery and embedding of the HSE Management System, strategy, and key operational initiatives.
  • Engage with operational, project and contractor stakeholders to manage HSE risks, assure compliance and foster a positive HSE culture.
  • Positively influence, coach, and educate team members in HSE practices and processes.
  • Identify, communicate, and implement strategies that will improve individual and team performance to ensure effective HSE outcomes are delivered via system improvement, effective engagement, and innovation.
  • Analyse HSE performance and trends and recommend courses of action to reduce risk and improve HSE performance.
  • Work together with the broader HSE team to develop strategy, improve programs and ensure effective and consistent implementation across the business.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Monitor and report on HSE system effectiveness and legislative compliance.
  • Lead audits, incident investigations, and corrective actions.

 

To succeed in this role you will have: 

 

  • Demonstrated experience as an HSE professional within the energy industry (or other relevant industry, for example: utilities, construction, oil & gas, chemical processing, manufacturing).
  • Track record of delivering HSE improvements and influencing diverse stakeholders.
  • A technical background, including knowledge of OHS, Environment and duties of a PCBU through applicable legislation, acts, regulations, codes of practice and standards.
  • Skilled in incident investigation, reporting, and system development.
  • MS Excel and SAP skills would be advantageous.
  • Exposure to HSE specific reporting & analytics software programs. 
  • Tertiary qualification in Health and Safety and/or Environment – or similar
  • ICAM investigation training (preferred).
  • Current certifications in Working at Heights (WAH) and Confined Space Entry (CSE).
