About the role
This position is responsible for the daily assignment of field resources to unplanned works, including the optimisation, control, dispatch and delivery of work orders for execution.
To ensure all works are completed to maximise utilisation, productivity and target delivery achievement whilst meeting Health & Safety outcomes. Monitor all work to completion in real time to identify, resolve or escalate exceptions and variations as required.
This position is a key member of the Works Dispatch team and is expected to assist and add value to process improvement and team communications.
Key Responsibilities
- Dispatches work for field execution with Health and Safety and compliance as a number one priority.
- Maintain accuracy and integrity of all information within the work program by updating relevant business information systems in a timely and accurate manner (eg: IVR, OMS, Estimated Time of Restoration, Crew Manager, SFS).
- Utilise all sources of information including customers, resources, and business information systems to achieve informed prioritisation.
- Co-ordination of information between customers, contact centre, field crews, internal stakeholders and other groups and external authorities (e.g.: Police, Fire Agencies, Availability Team Leaders, Network Availability Officers, Operations and Control Staff).
- Monitor and manage field resource fatigue and stand-down.
- Manage fault activities during normal, emergency and escalated events to minimise unplanned customer minutes off supply through adequate monitoring and coordination.
What you’ll need from day one
- Experience in the co-ordination, dispatch and control of work and/or resources within the utilities sector.
- Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with customers, employees and management and work as a member of a team in a service environment.
- Working knowledge of the electricity distribution networks (including design).
- Demonstrated initiative and lateral thinking in resolving issues or problems.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively during extremely busy periods both alone and in a team.
