About the role:

We are currently seeking an experienced Technical Training Lead to join our Technical Training Team based at our CBD head office in a full time and permanent capacity. 

 

This role will be responsible for leading the development and delivery of our technical training programs including our apprenticeships, traineeships, enterprise training and ad hoc/other training required to meet legislative requirements.

 

This is a critical leadership role as you will also responsible for the Technical Training Delivery team to support and guide the team to deliver high performance through the building of an inclusive and results focussed team culture.

 

The ideal candidate for this role will have previous electrical trade experience and have worked in a training or assessment role in the past. In addition, this candidate will have excellent stakeholder management skills, a strong ability to communicate clearly and persuasively to influence outcomes across all management levels, a positive attitude and have a safety-first attitude.

 

What you’ll deliver: 

  • Bring thought leadership to the design, delivery and management of apprentice and trainee programs. Focus efforts on doing more with less, driving for effective and efficient learning approaches
  • Design learning resources to agreed timelines and quality expectations of stakeholders
  • Lead project delivery and provide advice and learning expertise regarding the design, development, and implementation of learning resources to meet identified needs
  • Oversee the coordination and use of internal and external (RTO) training resources by assessing compliance with our requirements and ensuring they deliver high quality learning experiences for our people
  • Develop framework and scripts for learning resources
  • Develop and embed functional and high-quality learning resources
  • Provide ongoing coaching and advice in the effective use of learning resources to support the achievement of learning outcomes
  • Undertake participation in business related industry forums and working groups aligned to Technical Training (i.e. VESI, ESI Worker etc) 
  • Develop and manage projects and the associated budgets aligned with the required delivery milestones

 

To succeed in this role, you’ll have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in education, engineering, trades or other relevant discipline, or extensive equivalent operational delivery experience including in a management role.
  • Currently hold a Certificate IV in Training & Assessment
  • Thorough understanding of Federal and State government Vocational Education and Training (VET) initiatives including the implementation, integration and adaptation of accredited training packages applicable to the Electricity Supply Industry
  • Experience leading a team to deliver against operational targets and business goals
  • Proven experience in working in a trades /industrial setting, preferably in a highly unionised landscape
  • Significant experience in working within a vocational training, TAFE or RTO environment with an experience and understanding of the operational and administrative aspects of training, education and adult learning.
