About the Role:
We are looking for an experienced Technical Officer GIS to join our team based at our Market Street Head Office located in Melbourne’s CBD on a full time and permanent basis.
This position is responsible for the overall provision of GIS, minor drafting and survey services as part of our overhead and underground design distribution projects. This role also includes providing GIS information and asset recording information to internal and external Powercor Network Services clients on a as needed basis in a timely and accurate manner.
What you’ll deliver:
- Co-ordinate the input and update of data within GIS and associated databases in accordance with customer requirements and agreed timeframes
- Assist in the development of agreed GIS documentation and asset recording standards for electrical network system projects in a timely manner Prepare or update plans of projects and maintain system records in accordance with appropriate standards and customer requirements
- Audit and maintain the data entered in GIS and associated electrical network record systems to ensure the adherence to agreed asset recording standards
- Prepare or update plans of projects and maintain system records in accordance with appropriate standards and customer requirements
- Undertake minor surveying activities to agreed timeframes and in accordance with the relevant technical manuals, OH&S Act, Safety in Design guidelines and customer requirements.
- Monitor, review and reconcile time, costs and quality of distribution network projects and ensure unproductive time is maintained at a minimum and all hours worked for a client are charged accordingly in a timely manner
- Interrogate and update GIS/SAP connected equipment in a timely manner
- Undertake special projects as designated in accordance with project management principles and ensure delivery is in accordance with time, quality, and cost constraints
- Pro-actively pursue innovation in relation to products, services, processes, practices, and procedures

To succeed in this role you’ll have:
- Fundamental knowledge of electricity distribution network assets
- Detailed understanding of Engineering Technical Standards, VESI Design, Australian Standards
- Detailed knowledge of GIS systems
- Detailed knowledge of CAD Systems and related systems such as Drawing Management Systems
- Detailed knowledge around current Drafting standards, practices, tools, and processes
- Demonstrated experience in a similar type of role, particularly around implementation of GIS systems and user acceptance testing
- Advanced working knowledge around current GIS standards, practices, tools, and processes
- Working experience within the utilities or energy power industry in the areas of drafting
