About the Role:
We are currently looking for an experienced, dynamic engineer and people leader to join our Utilities & Infrastructure Projects team being responsible for our Civil Engineering project team in a full-time permanent role based in the Melbourne CBD.
This role will be responsible for providing leadership for the Civil and Building aspects of Beon’s Utilities and Infrastructure projects to allow for the effective design, procurement and delivery of Civil and Building construction services in an EPC contracting context.
Leading a team of Project and Site engineers, the team lead role will ensure effective collaboration with Project Managers, Designers, Construction team members, Contractors and other internal and external stakeholders to plan and deliver allocated projects safely, efficiently and in a way that maintains Beon’s reputation for reliability and quality.

Other key duties and responsibilities:
- Play an active part in creating a safe working environment and ensuring health, safety and environment is inherent in the services provided by the team.
- Develop and implement plans that ensure team capabilities are growing and aligned for delivery of current and future work.
- Provide comprehensive technical support to Project Managers in the field of Civil project delivery.
- Actively contribute to planning, scoping and estimating for projects, bids and tenders.
- Review project technical documentation to inform your contribution to design development, procurement and quality management.
- Work as the conduit between designers, constructors and the equipment manufacturers/suppliers, proactively problem solving and managing delivery risks.
- Review design and engineering deliverables to ensure they are least cost technically acceptable and meet the needs of key stakeholders.
- Review project quality management requirements and preparation of QA/QC documentation including preparation of Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) for hold point inspections, Factory or Site Acceptance Testing.
- Act as the primary point of contact for the Project Engineering team and develop and maintain strong internal key stakeholder networks to review and improve project delivery.
To succeed in this role you will have:
- Bachelor of Engineering (Civil)
- NER and Victorian Engineering Registration minimum, Chartered member of Engineers Australia preferable
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of the practical and engineering requirements for the construction of bulk earthworks, access tracks, trenching, drainage, foundations, piling, fencing, structures and prefabricated and built in-situ industrial buildings
- Working understanding of the application of project management and contracting principles in an EPC context.
- Well-developed knowledge of the design development process.
- Knowledge of the requirements for effective scoping, sourcing, procuring and managing of suppliers and service providers.
- Experience leading an engineering team in the renewables or utility sectors (preferred).
- Proven ability to multi-task and ensure delivery via others.
- Experience in building and maintaining strong stakeholder relationships.
