About the Role:

 

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Tax Accountant to join our Finance team in a full time and permanent role based at our Melbourne CBD head office.

 

Working as part of the broader tax team, you will assist in the preparation, review and lodgement of indirect and income tax returns, ensure compliance with relevant legislation, support tax audits and reviews, and contribute to ongoing process improvement and automation initiatives.

 

You will work closely with Finance and business stakeholders to help maintain effective tax governance, reporting accuracy and compliance across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Prepare and assist with the lodgement of indirect tax obligations, including BAS/GST, FBT, payroll tax and withholding tax returns.
  • Support the preparation and compliance of corporate income tax returns across the VPN and UE Groups and related entities.
  • Maintain accurate tax records, documentation and supporting position papers in line with legislative requirements.
  • Manage tax-related data and reporting within SAP and other finance systems, including support for tax fixed asset registers and depreciation reporting.
  • Drive continuous improvement, automation and efficiency across tax compliance processes, systems and reporting.
  • Assist with tax risk management activities, including ATO audits, reviews and compliance requests.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to provide tax advice, increase tax awareness and ensure compliance with changing tax legislation.

To succeed in this role you will have:

 

  • Tertiary qualification in Accounting/Business, Commerce or a related discipline, with CPA or CA studies underway (or a willingness to commence).
  • Strong understanding of indirect taxes, corporate income tax and relevant tax compliance requirements.
  • Previous experience in a corporate tax, business services or accounting environment.
  • Experience working with SAP Finance systems, with exposure to Fixed Asset Register (FAR) modules highly regarded.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and strong proficiency across Microsoft Office applications.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, analytical capability and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships across the business.
