About the Role:
We are currently seeking a skilled Electrical Project Engineer to join our growing Utilities and Infrastructure team based at our Melbourne CBD head office in a full time and permanent capacity.
This role is critical in delivering complex substation infrastructure projects across our East Coast Australia project sites by contributing your technical expertise with Primary and Secondary electrical HV equipment across the project lifecycle – from design and procurement to delivery and completion – within an EPC contracting environment.
You'll be part of a collaborative and driven team working at the forefront of renewable energy and infrastructure delivery, helping to maintain Beon’s strong reputation for safety, reliability, and quality.
What will you deliver?
- Provide discipline-specific Electrical Engineering technical support, ensuring compliance with industry standards, regulations, and safety protocols throughout project delivery.
- Maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, acting as a conduit between designers, constructors, and suppliers to facilitate successful project execution.
- Review and contribute to design deliverables, ensuring constructability, operability, and maintainability while managing technical documentation, RFIs, NCRs, and submittals.
- Take ownership of procurement packages, from tender evaluation to on-site delivery, and maintain supplier relationships to ensure cost, time, and quality objectives are met.
- Conduct risk assessments, develop mitigation strategies, and manage QA/QC processes, including ITPs, inspections, and audits, to ensure project and supplier compliance.
- Actively contribute to the planning, scoping, estimating, and documentation control of projects, bids, and tenders across the business.
- Drive continuous improvement by proposing innovations, mentoring team members, and contributing to a culture of collaboration and high performance.
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical).
- Project Management qualifications are advantageous.
- Significant knowledge and experience with Substation equipment at 66kV and above
- A background in EPC contracting, Electrical Utilities, Renewables or HV equipment sales is desirable
- Strong track record of relevant achievements with a clear motivation to contribute value in a dynamic, fast-paced, customer-focused environment.
- Solid understanding of program delivery, deadline and budget management, with demonstrated application of commercial principles
- Experienced in managing end-to-end procurement processes for technical goods and services, consistently achieving positive outcomes.
- Proven ability to communicate and work effectively with diverse stakeholders in engineering and construction environments.
- Demonstrates alignment with organizational values, with a commitment to learning, continuous improvement, and mentoring others.
