About the Role:

 

We are currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Design Engineer to join our growing engineering team within the Civil design area in a full-time permanent role based in the Melbourne CBD.

 

This role will provide technical leadership and specialist civil/structural engineering expertise across a diverse range of internal and external infrastructure projects.

 

This role plays a key part in growing Beon’s civil engineering capability, mentoring team members, and delivering safe, compliant and commercially sound civil and structural designs. You will support project scoping and estimation activities while working collaboratively with multi‑disciplinary teams to deliver high‑quality outcomes for customers.

Other key duties and responsibilities:

 

  • Deliver civil and structural engineering designs for overhead lines, substations, excavations, cut & fill, and in‑ground infrastructure in line with standards and Safety in Design principles
  • Provide technical leadership across projects, including supervision and approval of non‑prescribed engineering work
  • Review, verify and approve designs prepared by others, including external and manufacturer‑supplied drawings
  • Collaborate with multi‑disciplinary teams to deliver projects to scope, schedule and budget
  • Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of civil design standards, policies and methodologies
  • Apply commercial awareness to civil design decisions, supporting site teams to optimise constructability and margins
  • Support innovation, continuous improvement and mentoring within the civil engineering team.

To succeed in this role you will have:

 

  • Bachelor of Engineering (Civil or Structural) with current RPEQ and RPEV/BLA registration
  • Extensive experience delivering civil and structural designs for large and/or complex infrastructure projects
  • Strong technical knowledge of foundations, site grading, drainage, oil containment and substation civil works
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D and relevant structural analysis/design software
  • Understanding of OHS legislation, Safety in Design principles and regulatory compliance
  • Around 10+ years’ industry experience, including 2+ years in a technical leadership role
  • Proven ability to mentor, develop and assess civil engineers and designers
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to lead, influence and collaborate effectively.
