About the role

 

The Senior DSO Planning & Systems Engineer is responsible for the development of capabilities and optimisation of DER integration and our DER Management Systems (DERMS) needed to deliver our Distribution System Operator (DSO) responsibilities and commitments for CitiPower, Powercor and United Energy. This shall include but are not limited to the development of a DER integration and DSO systems roadmaps needed to deliver cost effective solutions, the development of pilot initiatives and trials designed to transition to BAU, collaborating internally to develop business positions and capability on DSO responsibilities,  developing responses to rule changes and participating in technical forums to positively influence industry developments related to DSO Planning and Systems.

 

Key responsibilities

 

  • The development of our Distributed Energy Resource (DER) integration roadmap.
  • Contribute to the development of internal business positions and responses to regulatory policy changes, national alignment or other activities relating to DER integration.
  • Engage with industry participants and shape policies, regulations and technical standards (i.e. CSIP-AUS) on DER integration that are beneficial to our business and customers.
  • Develop our DSO and DERMS systems and capabilities, working closely with IT and OT teams, to ensure the safe, secure and compliant operation of our distribution systems.
  • Establish and maintain strategies and framework related to our DER integration and DSO capabilities including but not limited to minimum demand security requirements, Home Energy Management Systems (HEMS) and EV integration.
  • Stay abreast of vendor solution and capability developments related to DER Integration and DERMS systems in Australia and overseas.
  • Supervise and train other Engineer(s) in the DSO Planning and Systems team.

What you’ll need from day one

 

  • Bachelor of Electrical Engineering.
  • National Engineering Register (NER) certification (registered in Victoria).
  • Proven experience developing innovative solutions in an energy or technology environment.
  • Experience in an electricity industry business.
  • Experience in DER integration standards (i.e. CSIP-AUS), cyber security requirements and DERMS system architecture (Desirable).
  • Experience in network planning for electricity distribution or transmission systems (Desirable). 
  • Experience in managing complex data sets, analysing and distilling key trends, identifying root causes and identify areas for improvement.
  • Understanding of DER Integration & DERMS systems building blocks and requirements.
