About the Role:

 

Beon are looking for an experienced First Nations Engagement professional to join our growing Health, Safety and Sustainability team on a full-time permanent capacity based at our Melbourne CBD head office.

 

As the First Nations Engagement Lead, this role will champion and shape Beon’s approach to genuine, respectful and impactful engagement with First Nations peoples, communities, organisations and businesses. You will lead the implementation of Beon’s Reconciliation Action Plan, serve as Chair of the RAP Working Group, and act as a trusted advisor to staff across the business.

 

Your work will ensure First Nations people are supported to participate in and benefit from employment, training, procurement and partnership opportunities across our renewable energy portfolio.

 

*There is a requirement of this role to travel occasionally to projects sites.

 

Key responsibilities:

 

  • Lead First Nations engagement across Beon’s projects, fostering respectful relationships and delivering cultural awareness initiatives
  • Implement and continuously improve Beon’s Reconciliation Action Plan, chairing and coordinating the RAP Working Group
  • Act as a key advisor on cultural heritage protection, compliance and engagement requirements
  • Develop and deliver First Nations‑focused community and stakeholder engagement plans, supporting project teams in execution
  • Support First Nations employment and training pathways, including mentoring staff and promoting culturally safe workplaces
  • Partner with procurement and project teams to increase participation of First Nations businesses and support their capability development
  • Maintain ongoing engagement with First Nations communities, organisations and industry bodies relevant to Beon’s operations
  • Design and deliver cultural safety programs across office and site locations, and contribute to future RAP planning.

What you’ll need from day one:

 

  • Tertiary qualifications in community development, renewable energy, stakeholder engagement, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Significant experience engaging with First Nations communities, organisations and stakeholders
  • Strong cultural understanding of First Nations histories, cultures, challenges and achievements
  • Experience with First Nations engagement within renewable energy or infrastructure projects (desirable)
  • Proven knowledge of developing or delivering Reconciliation Action Plans
  • Outstanding relationship-building and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
