About the Role:
We currently have an exciting opportunity to join our business as a First Nations Engagement Lead as part of our Community and Sustainability team in a full-time permanent role based in the Melbourne CBD with travel to our project sites.
This role will lead Beon’s First Nations engagement activities and supporting our training, employment and social procurement programs in the delivery of our solar farm projects. The role acts as a key member of the Beon RAP working group (WG) and shares responsibility for the RAP’s successful delivery, alongside other members of the RAP WG.
Other key duties and responsibilities:
- Develop, evaluate and implement community and stakeholder engagement plans, specifically in relation to First Nations engagement.
- Maintain positive communications and relationships with First Nations peoples, organisations and businesses where our projects are located.
- Ensure that First Nations People participate in and benefit from training and employment opportunities on Beon’s renewable energy projects.
- Provide support and mentoring to Beon staff in the management of First Nations training and employment programs and in resolving any workplace issues.
- Support Project Managers, the Procurement team and Construction Managers to engage, support and use First Nations businesses
- Support the management, monitoring and evaluation of the renewable energy projects training, employment and First Nations procurement programs in relation to First Nations engagement.
- Participate in the Beon RAP Working Group (WG) and work towards in the successful delivery of Beon’s RAP.
- Assist in the design and delivery of cultural safety and cultural awareness programs to Beon staff, both within head office and at project sites.
To succeed in this role you will have:
- Tertiary qualification or equivalent experience, in community development, renewable energy, or stakeholder engagement
- Excellent cultural awareness and understanding of First Nations culture, history, challenges and achievements
- Knowledge, skills and experience in the First Nations engagement aspects of renewable energy projects (desirable)
- Knowledge and experience in the successful delivery of corporate Reconciliation Action Plans
- Excellent relationship building skills with both internal and external stakeholders, including local communities and businesses
- Excellent communication skills across multiple mediums
- Extensive experience engaging with First Nations Peoples communities and organisations
- Experience with renewable energy projects and sustainability (desirable)
- Experience in strategy development and the ability to evolve programs in line with the organisation’s direction.
