About the Role:

We’re looking for a passionate and strategic Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) Lead to join our broader People, Culture and Legal team and drive our vision for developing and maintaining inclusive and diverse teams in our business. The role will be employed in a full-time and permanent capacity based at our Melbourne CBD head office.

In this pivotal role, you will provide expert advice and leadership in embedding DEI principles across all parts of our organisation—spanning office-based professionals, technical specialists, and regionally dispersed trade workforces.

This role will support our DEI working groups and shape & lead the delivery of our DEI strategy, align initiatives with national standards and industry expectations (including WGEA reporting), and champion inclusive practices that foster belonging, engagement, retention and opportunities for all.

*Our workforce is geographically diverse across Victoria – with locations spanning inner Melbourne, western, central, north-western, eastern and south-eastern Victoria, and the Mornington Peninsula. As a requirement of this role the successful candidate will be able to travel to our offices and depots.

Other key duties and responsibilities:

  • Partner with senior leadership, diversity working groups, and the HR team to drive the successful implementation of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) strategic plan.
  • Develop and embed key strategies and measurable KPIs to integrate DEI principles across all areas of the business, including our regionally dispersed and field based trade workforce.
  • Review and recommend updates to company policies to ensure they promote equity and inclusion, actively identifying and addressing systemic barriers.
  • Create targeted strategies to attract women and underrepresented groups into trade, technical, and engineering roles.
  • Provide regular, data-driven progress reports and actionable insights to stakeholders on workforce DEI performance and opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Develop and maintain strategic relationships with external DEI and early careers partners—such as Empowered Women in Trades and Holmesglen TAFE—to enhance collaboration and amplify impact.
  • Actively consult, engage, and collaborate across all levels of the organisation to support the effective design and delivery of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives.
  • Develop an annual communications and Employer Value Proposition (EVP) plan aligned with key DEI and early careers initiatives, in collaboration with Corporate Affairs. This includes the production of brochures, videos, and supporting materials.

To succeed in this role you will have:

  • Degree qualified in either Business, Human Resources, Employment Law or Psychology
  • Deep understanding of contemporary DEI principles, metrics, and compliance standards
  • Strong presentation, influencing and stakeholder engagement skills, particularly in both trade-based and corporate environments
  • Ability to lead organisational change through inclusive practice and capability-building
  • Experience in project management and strategic implementation
  • Skilled in data analysis, reporting, and insights development
  • Demonstrated success leading DEI initiatives that have delivered measurable outcomes
  • Proven experience engaging and influencing leaders, executives, and diverse employee groups
  • Strong track record of developing inclusive programs and policy frameworks
  • Experience working across complex and geographically dispersed teams
