About the Role:

 

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a keen and driven Data Analyst to join our growing Engineering team in a full-time permanent role based in the Melbourne CBD.

 

This role will support Beon’s teams by assisting with data analysis and performance monitoring of operational renewable energy projects. This role provides an opportunity to develop technical, analytical, and commercial skills while working closely with experienced colleagues across Operations & Maintenance, Engineering, Business Development, and Finance.

 

The analysis and reporting produced in this role will help identify performance issues, support day‑to‑day operational decisions, and contribute to the ongoing improvement of solar farm performance and reliability. Under guidance, the Data Analyst will also assist with contract compliance monitoring and the evaluation of prospective projects, gaining exposure to the full lifecycle of renewable energy assets.

 

Other key duties and responsibilities:

 

  • Support the monitoring of operational solar farms using SCADA and monitoring platforms, assisting with regular performance checks.
  • Help develop and update dashboards and automated reports to track plant performance and support internal teams and clients.
  • Assist with maintaining the O&M event diary by logging incidents and supporting investigations into performance or operational issues.
  • Analyse operational data to help identify trends, performance issues, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Use tools such as PVsyst to compare expected and actual plant performance, with guidance from senior team members.
  • Assist with cleaning, validating, and processing data to support monthly and contractual reporting requirements.
  • Provide analytical support to engineering, commercial, and business development teams on existing and prospective projects.

 

To succeed in this role you will have:

 

  • Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical/Mechanical/Software), Bachelor of Renewable Energy, Bachelor of Information Technology or other related technical or commercial Bachelor degree (mandatory).
  • Knowledge and understanding of data analysis techniques, technical and commercial modelling (preferred).
  • Paired with data analysis, relevant Excel and/or python/SQL experience (preferred).
  • Proven experience in the management of data and data analysis.
  • Previous experience managing and liaising with a range of key stakeholders.
  • Technical capability and willingness to grow in terms of further capacity and knowledge.
