About the Role:

 

This is an exciting opportunity for experienced Construction Governance Lead to join our growing Urban Projects team in a full-time and permanent capacity based at our Melbourne CBD head office.

 

This role is critical in ensuring project outcomes are achieved safely, efficiently, and in line with agreed time, cost, quality, environmental, and stakeholder requirements.

 

The role also be responsible for managing on-site construction activities, providing strong governance oversight, and leading construction teams and contractors to deliver against project objectives. Working closely with Project Managers and field resources, this role will play a key role across the full project lifecycle.

 

There will be the requirement for this role to travel to various project sites in metro Victoria.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Lead and govern the delivery of major underground cable works projects to achieve agreed time, cost, quality, safety, and environmental outcomes.
  • Supervise on-site construction activities and contractor performance to ensure compliance with contractual, regulatory, and PNS requirements.
  • Manage project financials including cost control, variation management, forecasting, and validation of invoices.
  • Implement effective risk, quality, and assurance processes, including audits and performance reporting to drive continuous improvement.
  • Ensure all site activities comply with OH&S legislation, participating in safety investigations and monitoring contractor conformance.
  • Develop, maintain, and report on detailed construction schedules and overall field performance using structured project management tools.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with project managers, field teams, customers, councils, and other authorities to resolve issues and optimise project outcomes.

To succeed in this role you will have:

 

  • Current certification in electrical distribution and applicable VESI authorities.
  • A sound knowledge of civil works, underground cable installation and/or infrastructure.
  • Previous experience as a Team Leader, Work Group (Site) Leader, or demonstrated leadership in the electrical construction field.
  • Proven ability and demonstrated experience to apply project management principles in electrical construction.
  • Previous working experience around managing a construction site and/or supervising and coaching a team of contractors on a project site.
  • Demonstrated experience in supervising and controlling site aspects associated with underground cable works projects.
  • Strong understanding of construction methodology, project planning, and relevant legislation (e.g. Victorian Roads Management Act).
