About the Role:
We are currently looking for a Commissioning Supervisor to join our Commissioning, Operations and Maintenance team in a 12-month fixed term, full-time opportunity based on large scale renewable Solar & Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects and working out of our Melbourne CBD Office.
This position will be primarily responsible for facilitating and leading commissioning activities on our major renewable energy projects with specific responsibility to be a subject matter expert in the field of testing and commissioning of primary and secondary equipment.
The role will also interact directly with clients and assist in providing effective high level specialist engineering support to project teams and stakeholders to assist with quotations, bids and tender submissions.
This role will be based in Melbourne however will require you to travel to project sites on a FIFO or DIDO basis.
Key duties and responsibilities:
- Manage and lead teams of technicians and electricians on our large-scale renewable projects to conduct commissioning testing activities
- Manage specialised contractors to efficiently execute the commissioning phase of major projects
- Assist HV testing and commissioning of primary equipment (AC and DC) ranging from 415V - 500kV including power transformers, auxiliary transformers, CBs, CTs, VTs, rectifiers, switchgear
- Perform and supervise electrical installations on complex systems (in both greenfield and brownfield environments) in accordance with established company practices, processes and standards
- Report on testing and commissioning project performance including actions to ensure objectives and targets are achieved
- Develop and control commissioning plans for allocated projects including risk and contingency management, outage coordination and staged implementation
- Implement a safe working culture at all levels and ensure all health & safety policies, procedures and practices are adhered to at all times
Required skills and experience:
- Diploma in Electrical Engineering and or A Grade electrician
- Sound understanding of substations electrical wiring standards, electrical engineering principles, transmission lines, substations, traction substations, PV systems and protection & control fundamentals
- Technical expertise and sound knowledge of commissioning engineering principles/concepts
- Ability to manage risk throughout the project lifecycle through development and implementation of processes and systems
- Project management experience, preferably in an electrical distribution, sub-transmission, transmission and/or infrastructure environment (advantageous)
- Extensive experience in wiring/testing primary and secondary electrical equipment
- Experience with Omicron, Solar Testing equipment and MS office
- Advanced interpersonal and communication skills and to hold the ability to liaise diplomatically and effectively with senior management, external clients, subcontractors and peers
