About the role: 

This position plays a vital role in contributing to the Metering Asset team, and is accountable for the design and maintenance of the current Smart Metering and future Distribution Intelligence Metering Network. In this role you will partner with the AMI system vendors and across the organisation to assure a robust and reliable Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI). 
Using your experience in electrical power distribution engineering and infrastructure tasks, as well as your analytical skills, this position supports senior engineers in the business in effectively managing all risks associated with the metering and communications of the CitiPower, Powercor and United Energy AMI system. 
A permanent position in a highly capable and driven engineering team. 

 

What you’ll deliver:

  • Support management of metering contracts and metering assets through a wide range of activities, including liaising with Metering Contractors/field crew and AMI suppliers, as well as AMI Network Operators/AMI Data Analysis to ensure distribution metering and AMI network communications needs are met.
  • Ensure compliance with market rules and regulations and provide technical expertise and guidance using business case discipline for approval of new AMI Systems operations and technologies
  • Carry out regular Contractor audits and develop procurement specifications and ongoing review of performance of metering equipment and systems.
  • Develop professional reports, presentations, policy, and advice in technical aspects pertaining to metering activities.


To succeed in the role, you’ll have: 

  • Degree Qualification in Electrical Engineering (when eligible it is mandatory to obtain and maintain a Registered engineering credential with the Victorian Building Licensing Authority Business).
  • Strong understanding of Electrical Engineering principles and f electrical power distribution network assets.
  • Capable of data analysis through practical knowledge of data table manipulation and processing using spreadsheets, databases, and scripting languages. 
  • Excellent decision-making skills in a highly demanding project and operational environment
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Previous work experience in an electrical engineering role within the Utilities industry 
  • AMI Metering and wireless communication systems would be well regarded.
