About the role

 

As a Lineworker – Distribution, you will be responsible for the construction, commissioning, operation, and maintenance of overhead and underground distribution networks, including customer supply at service points. The role focuses on frontline delivery of works across overhead electrical distribution systems, requiring strong technical capability, sound judgement, and effective planning to ensure safe and timely service outcomes.

 

You will work as part of a field‑based team, operating safely and efficiently in a variety of environments. The position may require working away from home and performing duties in all weather conditions.

 

Based in Maryborough, this role is essential in maintaining a safe and reliable electricity supply for customers, meeting regulatory and metering obligations, and ensuring the effective use of skills and resources across the network.

 

 

Key responsibilities

 

  • Undertake duties associated with the construction, commissioning, operating and maintenance of overhead and underground transmission/distribution systems
  • Operate plant, tools and equipment in relation to construction, commissioning, operating and maintenance of overhead and underground transmission/distribution systems
  • Locate & rectify faults
  • Install and maintain metering at customers premises
  • Install and maintain overhead and underground services
  • Effectively manage work priorities and make sensible decisions about the time required to complete tasks and to attend client appointments

 

 

Pre-requisites:

 

  • You must submit copies of the following documents as part of your application to progress to the next stage.
  • Incumbents may be required to undertake rostered out of hours faults duties.
  • Qualification of a Certificate III in ESI – Power Systems – Distribution Overhead or previous equivalent (mandatory)
  • ESI Worker (compulsory for Victoria based candidates, no requirement to attach evidence as information is already included in ESI Worker) including VESI Rigging
  • ESV licence as a Lineworker or meet the eligibility criteria to apply (mandatory)
  • Heavy Vehicle Licence - HR (mandatory)
  • High Voltage Operating training / authority (mandatory)
  • Interstate applicants, please attach evidence of Qualification, Statement of Attainment, High Risk Licences and Construction Induction Card to your application including VESI Rigging

 

Note: Employment will be subject to the candidate successfully completing a pre-employment medical examination (which includes a hearing test, colour blindness and physical examination) as well as relevant drug and alcohol testing and to assess fitness for work, reference checks, as well as Entitlement to Work in Australia checks.
