About the role
The Manager, Protective Security Services & Systems Monitoring is responsible for leading and managing the organisation’s protective security operations across both the 24/7 Security Control Room at Glen Waverley and the Security/Concierge Desk at the 40 Market Street Head Office. The Security Control Room oversees remote monitoring of building access, CCTV, intrusion detection, and other protective security systems across the network. The Head Office Security/Concierge Desk provides on-site protective security, including physical access control, visitor management, customer service, and backup support for the Control Room.
In this leadership role, you will ensure protective security services are proactive, effective, and compliant with organisational policies and regulatory requirements, while maintaining high standards of professionalism, vigilance, and responsiveness.
What you’ll deliver:
- Lead and manage a team of protective security monitoring officers and concierge personnel operating across two locations, to ensure optimal protective security systems monitoring and operations.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand and address evolving protective security requirements, improving alignment between protective security capabilities and business needs, through effective reporting and analytics.
- Track, report, and analyse key performance indicators (KPIs) and service metrics related to protective security systems performance, staff responsiveness, and customer service.
- Lead the troubleshooting and resolving of technical issues promptly to ensure rapid response, reduce downtime, and maintain continuous availability of critical protective security services.
- Ensure continuous, compliant, and effective monitoring of all electronic protective security systems (CCTV, Access Control, and IDS) in line with procedures and risk management frameworks
- Manage and support the front-of-house protective Security/Concierge function, ensuring a professional and secure environment for employees, contractors, and visitor.
- Oversee the performance and operational readiness of the 24/7 Security Control Room, including shift scheduling, incident escalation, communications protocols, and system health monitoring.
- Ensure appropriate response to alarms, breaches, and protective security events, and lead initial incident coordination and reporting processes.
- Liaise with Network Facilities Management, Security Systems Integrators, IT and external stakeholders as to ensure systems uptime, maintenance, and upgrades.
- Drive continuous improvement in service delivery, including system optimisation, response protocols, and integration of smart technologies to enhance protective security effectiveness and efficiency.
- Develop and maintain protective security monitoring procedures and ensure staff are trained, competent, and adhere to these processes.
To succeed in the role, you’ll have:
- Certificate III – Security Operations
- Certificate IV in Security Risk Management will be considered favourably but is not essential.
- Demonstrated experience managing protective security monitoring or control room operations, ideally within critical infrastructure, corporate, or government settings.
- Proven leadership capability, with experience supervising 24/7 operations and/or frontline protective security teams.
- Experience with commonly used protective security systems including Gallagher™ Electronic Access Control, Milestone XProtect Video Management System
- Strong understanding of electronic protective security systems (CCTV, Access Control, IDS) and related compliance/regulatory requirements.
- Familiarity with modern protective security technologies, data privacy, and system integration considerations.
- An understanding of Security of Critical Infrastructure (SOCI) legislative and regulatory requirements as applicable to the energy sector / electricity distribution.
