About the Role:

We currently have an exciting and rare career opportunity to join our Communications Networks Quality Group as a Smart Grid Testing Subject Matter Expert based at our Brooklyn (3012) office in a full time and permanent capacity. 

 

The role will be responsible for maintaining the quality of the CitiPower, Powercor and United Energy Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) System. This will be done by participating in the design, build, test and deployment of any testing and quality control activities, which can include internal and external projects, working to meet standards and procedures, reporting of non-compliance issues and continuously improve business and testing process. 

 

We are looking for someone with a strong background in the electricity distribution industry, ideally working with software and hardware testing. In addition, this candidate will have a excellent analytical skills, highly developed verbal and written communication skills and ability to work within a team together to achieve goals within a timeframe. 

 

What you’ll deliver: 

  • Quality Control and Testing, including determining scope, strategy, test plans, test cases, execution and documentation/reporting on results
  • Define the area and scope of testing automation for key functionalities within the network communication system
  • Design and implement a reliable test automation system containing modular, reusable automation components
  • Initiate process improvement and develop procedures that enhance the outcomes, efficiency and/or quality of testing operation
  • Assist the test manager in managing the lab resources including computers, test equipment and devices, software and other supplies
  • Assist in investigations on issues identified within the communications networks
  • Provide guidance, including training and developing training materials with regards to the communications networks applications.


To succeed in this role you’ll have:

  • Tertiary or equivalent qualifications in Information Communications Technology, Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent relevant professional training
  • Working knowledge of and commitment to implementing a Quality Assurance system
  • Significant experience in software and/or hardware testing - both manual and automated
  • Strong knowledge in device and software test automation processes, tools and equipment such as UFT/QTP, NI VISA, LabView
  • Good working knowledge of communication protocols, e.g. ethernet, TCP/IP, RS-232, MODBUS, GPIB, USB
  • Strong knowledge in programming, scripting languages and API, such as C#, C++, Java, Python, webservices, webMethods, web scraping, Selenium
  • Knowledge of smart meters, metering applications or AMI infrastructure
  • Experience in the design and development of test automation systems for instrumentation and/or software testing
  • Familiar with working in an electrical or electronics laboratory environment
  • A proven track record of problem determination and defect tracking
