About the role

The role coordinates the delivery of the electrical plant maintenance program across PAL and CP zone and distribution substations, including electrical plant assets on the distribution network, to support the effective delivery of maintenance activities in accordance with Electricity Networks policies and strategies.

A key requirement of the role is to provide high-level engineering analysis of plant maintenance, diagnostic, and condition assessment data, as well as technical support and guidance to work groups during system fault investigations, plant failures, and maintenance projects. This ensures the delivery of high-quality and specialist plant maintenance services.

The role is responsible for managing network risks associated with defect and routine maintenance by evaluating, prioritising, and implementing mitigation measures to meet business requirements.

As a key member of the Electrical Plant Maintenance team, the incumbent is expected to contribute to and lead continuous improvement initiatives, innovative maintenance methodologies, and process enhancements.

The responsibilities of this role also extend to supporting Transmission Operations Australia.

The successful candidate will be required to provide mentoring, coaching, and technical guidance to other team members.

Please note this role can be based on either Brooklyn, Melbourne CBD or Richmond.

Key responsibilities

• Implement relevant policies and procedures relating to distribution, sub-transmission and transmission assets
• Provide high level specialist engineering support and effective recommendations to the Works Program Delivery team, field resources, EN and other key stakeholders during plant maintenance works, system faults or defect investigations
• Evaluate, scope and project manage OPEX and plant failure rectification works to required quality, OH&S and environmental standards and ensuring customer and commercial needs are met.
• Manage risk associated with routine and defect maintenance programs and prioritise, risk assess and mitigate in accordance with business priorities.
• Research and implement new efficient and cost-effective maintenance practices and methodologies to compliment CP/PAL policies and Standards
• Proactively provide specialist technical feedback to asset and strategy engineers around plant condition and maintenance to contribute towards the development of effective Asset Management strategies
• Drive and coordinate the relevant stakeholder network to review, improve and ensure maintenance delivery. Negotiate as required to improve processes, systems or delivery related outcomes (eg, target date prioritisation in accordance with the risk)
• Lead the reporting to highlight risks in program delivery, priority network defects, out of policy maintenance and subsequent recovery measures and resolution
• Take a leadership role in the identification, development and implementation of initiatives to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of work processes, practices, systems, tools and reporting

What you’ll need from day one

• Electrical Engineering Bachelor’s Degree with experience especially relating to electric power system
• Detailed theoretical and practical knowledge of the electricity distribution networks assets and related maintenance practices and diagnostic methodologies
• Detailed industry and organisational knowledge and subsequent risks and mitigation
• Demonstrated knowledge and research ability to develop and improve practices, condition-based maintenance and diagnostic techniques
• Detailed knowledge of SAP & Standard IT software as applicable to Plant Maintenance
• Detailed knowledge and ability to apply contract/project management principles and continuous improvement programs
• Detailed knowledge of budget preparation and forecasting techniques
