About the role
This role coordinates the delivery of the electrical plant maintenance works program across PAL and CP zone and distribution substations, ensuring maintenance activities are completed effectively and in line with Electricity Networks policies and strategies.
You will provide engineering analysis of diagnostic and condition‑assessment data, along with technical support during system faults, plant breakdowns, and maintenance projects.
As a key member of the Electrical Plant Maintenance team, you will contribute to process improvements and support the development of innovative maintenance methodologies. This role can be based in Melbourne CBD, Brooklyn, Richmond, or Ballarat offering flexibility across multiple office locations.
Key responsibilities
- Provide support (data and/or technical expertise) to the Works Program Delivery team, field resources and other related key stakeholders during maintenance works, system faults or terminal/zone/distribution substation defect investigations.
- Adopts risk-based decisions in supporting maintenance activities and completes risk assessments to prioritise maintenance tasks.
- Project manage OPEX and plant failure rectification works to required quality, OH&S & environmental standards and ensuring customer and commercial needs are met.
- Point of contact for Field resources on maintenance delivery matters
- Negotiate with key stakeholders: modified processes, systems or project related outcomes (e.g.: target dates)
- Oversee data management for all related systems to ensure accurate and auditable records are maintained
- Undertake audits as required, e.g. SAP data accuracy, SAP/GIS closeouts, etc.
- Pro-actively pursue innovation in relation to products, services, processes, practices and procedures. Effectively implement innovation through gaining ownership from stakeholders and through effective managing any resultant changes
- Assist in the analysis and modification of work instructions relating to the electrical plant maintenance, testing and commissioning of assets.

What you’ll need from day one
- Electrical Engineering Bachelor’s Degree with experience especially relating to electric power system
- Substantial experience in electrical plant maintenance, testing and construction of zone substation plant, regulators and ACR’s
- Knowledge and understanding of Powercor/CitiPower policies and procedures as related to the maintenance of zone substations and distribution assets
- Skills in contract / project management
- SAP & Standard IT software skills
- Technology development in areas of maintenance practices, condition based maintenance and diagnostic techniques
