About the Roles:
We currently have multiple opportunities available across our network!
We are seeking skilled Arborists to join our team to help ensure the safety and reliability of the Powercor and CitiPower networks. 
This field-based role will see you conducting visual assessments of trees and providing expert technical advice on the likelihood of tree failures that could potentially impact our infrastructure. You’ll play a critical role in the ongoing hazard tree program, contributing to the safety and efficiency of our operations.
The position is full-time, autonomous, and requires extensive travel across the network via vehicle (drivers licence essential). You will work independently to meet safety, quality, and program delivery expectations, while also collaborating with stakeholders and the broader Vegetation Management team. A strong focus on continuous improvement and promoting best practices will be integral to your success in this role.

 

What You’ll Do:

  • Follow safe working processes and procedures, reporting hazards, near misses, and improvements to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Complete your portion of the annual arborist assessment program, ensuring timely, quality, and safe delivery of services. Prioritise ad hoc assessments as required and travel to site accordingly.
  • Provide input on improvement initiatives and adopt new technologies and data analytics to enhance program delivery. Contribute to a culture of workplace improvement and best practices.
  • Work autonomously across various parts of the network to deliver arborist assessments. Provide clear and concise technical advice regarding tree health and arboriculture matters. Collaborate with local and broader teams to meet business goals.

 

What You’ll Bring to the Business:

  • Certificate III in Arboriculture (required)
  • Minimum of 3 years’ field experience in tree assessments (required).
  • In-depth knowledge of Arboriculture, including tree identification, growth habits, diseases, and pests.
  • Strong ability to assess tree defects and evaluate the likelihood of failure.
  • Sound understanding of industry safety protocols, especially in lone working environments.
  • Current and valid car driver’s license (mandatory)
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) for reporting and interacting with stakeholders.
  • “Perform a ground-based tree defect evaluation” unit of competency (advantageous)
  • Basic knowledge of the Electricity Distribution Network (advantageous).
  • Proficiency in computer systems and Microsoft Office.
  • Experience in the Electrical Supply Industry (advantageous).
  • Experience working on high-volume, geographically dispersed programs (advantageous).
  • Proven experience following safety protocols, PPE requirements, and emergency response procedures.
  • Experience in writing arborist reports (desirable).

Powercor Network Areas of coverage (North and West of Victoria) including Brooklyn, Warrnambool, Geelong, Ballarat, Bendigo, Shepparton, Horsham, Colac and more
